All updates:
(June 9, 2025) Update -- The graft started flushing more noticably in the last few days, but no sign of any branches volunteering on the rootstock.
(May 31, 2025) Update -- The graft ended up losing most of its leaves but keeping most of the stems, and is in the midst of the new flush.
(February 8, 2025) Inter-freeze update -- After a few weeks of intermittent mild to moderate freezes (lowest temperature of 25.7°F/-3.5°C), this tree shows very little damage to the Puebla graft, though the rootstock has no branches of its own to compare.
(January 18, 2025) Pre-freeze update -- Looks great so far.
(September 23, 2024) Update -- Only the graft has grown this year, but seems to be doing well.
(June 29, 2024) Update -- This is the only Zutano seedling rootstock that's survived a winter so far. It was mounded with wood chips above both grafts, but only Puebla survived, and is regrowing well now.

(October 26, 2023) Report -- Both hearts appear to have stalled their fall flushes ahead of the first frost, though the leaves aren't fully hardened yet.
