#51
Seedling of:
 "Mexicola Grande"
Germinated:
 2021-01-13
Planted in a warm spot on the west side of a concrete wall with direct afternoon sun. Re-grew vigorously in 2022 after being frozen to ground level its first winter outside, to almost twice its original maximum size. Showed among the least damage after 25°F in November 2022, and only moderate damage when unprotected for 17°F in late December.

Update2024-08-29 06:03:14Had regained essentially its previous maximum size, with a bit more growing left in this season.
Update2024-07-23 17:11:01Large new trunk has formed with branches already.
Update2024-04-20 18:04:44Despite some living buds further up the trunk, the buds swelling at the base look more vigorous, so I'm expecting another new trunk.
Update2024-03-04 17:59:28Damage has slowly crept inward since January, but still looks pretty green on the main trunk. Still might just regrow from the roots instead though
Freeze update2024-01-17 23:05:51The main trunk looks mostly undamaged but all the branch tips are crispy.
This tree does not have any grafts on it.
