All updates:
(July 26, 2025) Sudden death? -- This plant had much more leaf damage from winter than the other one. However, all seemed great with the recovery and I put it in ground a few months ago. A new flush was coming in but one branch kind of dried out. Everything seemed normal until about a week ago. Suddenly all the leaves fell and within a short time, the main trunks were all black and with no leaves! Really a stunning deterioration in such a short time. I hope it will grow back from the roots. The tree in the same exact soil a few feet away is doing great.

(July 26, 2025) Photo Update -- Doing great!

Leaves had barely any sign of damage or stress from the cold snap. It transplanted beautifully and continues to grow. There were even a few flowers a few months ago.

(December 19, 2024) A photo update -- The tree is growing well. Continuing to push new leaves in this winter. I had some little flowers at the end of summer too! I will make sure to add those to future reports.

I wasn't able to finish preparing the in-ground area for it for this winter, so next Spring is when I will get it in ground for proper testing. I have a great full-sun spot.

(December 8, 2023) Frost update -- Surprisingly little frost damage from 28°F. Some leaf damage on new and recently hardened leaves, though older ones look fine.
