pre-winter report2024-11-20 22:24:29Robust growth, both vertical and lateral - about 40" tall, Nov 2024 Planted in 10gal "squat pot" Graft was low enough that I was able to up-pot with the graft planted below grade - this is an attempt to isolate the impact of cold winter air to just the grafted cultivar portion of the plant. The below grade stem is planted on a diagonal, to avoid roots being too deep (This is the same technique as when planting a tomato start in the garden, bury half the stem to develop additional roots.)n planting a tomato deeper than its starter pot)
pre-winter report2023-10-29 20:25:56July 2023, up-potted into a 10gal "squat pot". Graft below soil-line to try to isolate the impact of cold to just the grafted cultivar. Zutano rootstock was buried mostly horizontally (similar to approach of planting a tomato deep.) Photo for pre-winter report was taken Oct 24, 2023
