(February 8, 2025) Inter-freeze update -- After a few weeks of intermittent mild to moderate freezes (lowest temperature of 25.7°F/-3.5°C), this tree shows some damage but seems mostly happy.
(January 23, 2025) Update -- Only minor leaf damage so far
(January 17, 2025) Pre-freeze update -- Looking good, still has active growth but it's turned pale a bit.
(October 13, 2024) Update -- Still flushing new growth...
(September 4, 2024) Update -- Seems very happy this year.
(April 20, 2024) Update -- Lots of new buds forming on the old stump.
(March 4, 2024) Update -- Slight signs of life at the soil line. Maybe a bud starting to swell.
(January 19, 2024) Freeze update -- Some lower leaves might have made it, along with the lower stems, but could still be aborted by the tree later. Looks alive, at least.
(January 15, 2024) Frost protection -- Was covered with an unheated bucket for the current freeze event.
(October 28, 2023) Frost report -- Moderate damage to some of the unhardened leaves from 30°F.
(October 25, 2023) Report -- Has grown very nicely this year, and did actually regrow from above ground after last winter unprotected, though only slightly above ground.
