This tree does not have any grafts on it.
All updates:
(April 20, 2025) Spring update -- The tree is alive and pushing out new spring growth after suffering some die back this winter. It was planted in the ground last year and received no winter protection. The lowest temperature this winter was only briefly around 25°f, so I do not expect that this will fare well during harsher winters.
The tree is about 3 feet tall.
(October 27, 2023) Pre-Winter Report -- The tree has seemed healthy in over the spring/summer/fall that I've had it. It's still in its original pot and has received regular summer water. During the hottest Portland summer heatwave it suffered some leaf burn on new leaves but has since recovered with some branching and new leaf flushes that still haven't fully hardened off. These may have trouble with the upcoming cold weather, we'll see.
I intend to protect it this winter since its still in a pot, and plant out next spring after the worst weather has past.
