Possible Mexicola pollen parent. Planted out in early summer 2022, has regrown from the base each spring since then.
This tree does not have any grafts on it.
All updates:
(March 21, 2025) End of winter -- Leaves are mostly killed but the main stems are in pretty good shape. Not clear yet where on the stems the growth will resume this season, though.
(January 17, 2025) Pre-freeze update -- Some freeze damage from the very mild frost earlier this winter, so might get knocked back again soon.
(September 23, 2024) Update -- Seems to have finished its last flush and shutting down for winter.
(July 23, 2024) Update -- Slowed down a bit but still looking healthy.
(June 27, 2024) Update -- Getting going with regrowth.
(April 20, 2024) Update -- New buds forming around the base.
(March 4, 2024) Update -- Looks likely to survive just above ground level after being essentially unprotected (only a plastic bag) for the January freeze.
(January 17, 2024) Freeze update -- A few leaves and bit of stem might still be alive near ground level, but hard to be sure. Mostly dead, though.
(October 28, 2023) Frost report -- Slight damage on a few still-expanding tender leaves from 30°F.
(October 26, 2023) Report -- Appears to have stalled the fall flush ahead of the first frost.
