The Drymifolia Collective
Welcome! We are a group of avocado enthusiasts scattered across the Cascadian lowlands, united by the hope that (against all odds) the amazing genetic variability of the Mexican avocado will allow us to breed trees that will grow and fruit in our bioregion. If you are interested in joining our project, click here to read more about what that entails.

Mission Statement

To test the winter hardiness of Persea americana var. drymifolia (the Mexican avocado) in the lowlands around the Salish Sea, and to breed, test, and distribute new cold-hardy cultivars for use in food forests in favorable microclimates throughout the Cascadian bioregion.
